LILY K. GRUBA RELEASES FIRST TAX BOOK
GUIDE NOTES AND CASES ON THE GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF TAXATION AND THE ORGANIZATION OF THE B.I.R.
Breaking down the intricacies of Taxation
Manila, Philippines — Taxes are one of the most important things in modern life. It is also one of the least understood fields of the law. Lawyers and law students alike are always saying they’re “lost” when it comes to taxation—saying it’s too intricate or they’re not good at numbers.
A new book from a leading name in the field of Taxation law addresses this plight.
In “Guide Notes and Cases on the General Principles of Taxation and the Organization of the B.I.R.” (PhP550.00, REX Book Store, 2016), author Atty. Lily K. Gruba taps her 40 years of real-life practice and pedagogic experience to break down the intricacies of Taxation law and make it more understandable.
A guide for learning the basics, presented in a simple and structured way, the book cuts away the confusion and tries to give the lawyer or law student the tools to have a working knowledge of the subject.
The book, the first in the “Guide Notes and Cases” series of the author, presents a comprehensive approach on the subject of Taxation as it outlines the foundational principles and relevant and current jurisprudence on each topic.
“I hope that this book will achieve its goal of assisting those already in the legal profession, and the students dreaming of becoming lawyers someday,” says the author who is the Managing Partner of Zambrano Gruba Caganda & Advincula (ZGLaw) and an Associate Dean of the Ateneo de Manila School of Law.
True to her word, the book is a timely and practical guide for law students as it adheres to the Supreme Court Syllabus for the Bar Examination on Taxation.
For the benefit of the practitioners, the book also delves into the organization and function of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, powers of the Secretary of Finance and the Commissioner of Internal Revenue, including various administrative issuance of the B.I.R.
